GAUZE WRAPPED FACE
Step 1 - Wrap the Gauze and Gouge the Eyes
The end product of this tutorial would probably result in the man being in pain, so we're going to start with this screaming man.
Do a search for "gauze" and "bandages" and find some really large images to work with that have good texture. You want gauze that is stretched out.
Copy it, paste it into a new layer above your screaming man, and desaturate it CTRL+SHIFT+U.
In the Layers window change the blending option for the gauze to "Screen".
Rotate it around to fit better.
Find some more pieces and repeat these steps. We're going to layer it up a couple times.
Be sure to trim it up a bit.
Once you have all the layers, Colorize them (each one), CTRL+U and click the "Colorize" box, changing it to a pale yellow/off-white color.
Merge all of the gauze together. Go to Filters>Distort>Spherize and change it to about 85.
Trace the fingers with the Pen tool or whatever you're comfortable with. This is just for cropping the gauze, so this doesn't have to be 100% perfect and you don't have to trace them all - just whatever is overlapping the gauze.
CTRL+click one of the pen tool layers you just made, select the gauze layer and delete. Repeat with the other hand.
Lower the saturation CTRL+U.
Adjust the Levels CTRL+L, increasing the left slider and decreasing the right.
Adjust the Levels for the gauze as well.
CTRL+click the gauze layer to select it. Create a new layer above the gauze and color a couple areas where the shadows are in with a greenish color.
Change the blending option on the greenish layer to Color Burn.
You may need to adjust the Levels on the man again to match better.
Create a new layer under the gauze. Use the paint brush and a dark red and color a red blob over each eye.
Duplicate this layer and drag the duplicate to above the gauze layer and change the blending option to Color Burn.
Choose a splatter paint brush or carefully draw a little dark blood trail below one of the eyes for a nice dripping effect.
Use the Burn Tool at 15% exposure and go over some of the areas in the image to darken them.
Select around the shirt and change its color to a grayish brown.
Use a Soft Round Brush tool with black and fade out the shirt.
There you go!
