Step 4 -
You want to crop your lines so there is an alternate color on each end (color 1 and color 2), and two bars of colors in the middle, one of each.  So, when you crop it after you find all of the ends, you end up with something similar to the following image:

Note: When you're matching up your guides to make sure your image, try putting guides in the middle too, to make sure all of the interior lines are even.
